Still here.
The answer to “what happens to my data if you disappear?”
You built something real and you are asking strangers to trust it with their data. The one question every prospect asks has no good answer you can give yourself, because it is only worth something if someone else is holding it. Simple Widget is that someone else: one panel beside your Subscribe button showing four facts an independent party checked this week, and a signed promise about what happens if you stop. $149, once. No subscription.
Self-serve drafting opens shortly. If you got an email from us, your pledge is already drafted at the link inside it — reply there and it’s handled by hand until then.
This is the panel, live
Every line is read from a real check with a real timestamp. Click through to the pledge page and you get the promise in full, the log of every check ever run, and every notice ever considered — sent or not. The same facts are served as continuity.json for the AI agents that increasingly evaluate software before a human does, and as an MCP resource inside Claude and ChatGPT.
A third party checks, weekly
We drive your export with a test account and record that it worked and how long it took. We message your support and grade whether a human replied. We watch for commits, deploys and payments. Every result goes on a public log with a timestamp.
A promise your customers can hold you to
If your app goes quiet for 21 days while it is still running, we email every user who asked their export link and tell them how long the service is paid up for. You are warned first, twice. Nothing goes to a customer until a person at Simple Widget has confirmed it.
We hold nothing but the record
No data, no code, no credentials. Backups and escrow are other people’s products. What we hold is the pledge, the log of every check, and the addresses of users who asked to be told. That is the only thing worth a third party holding.

The panel shows “Verified”. For twelve months we drive your export weekly, probe support fortnightly, watch for activity, and hold the promise. The public record stays up after that.
